hey mate i use to have the same problem in my old vs 5spd. turned out to be my tps (throttle position sensor). so id try first get a second hand throttle body from wreckers. give it a good clean and chuk that in. if that doesnt try maybe a blocked vacuum line running to ur throttle body?

If hot coolant has wet the coils, which are also hot and carrying high voltage, it's quite possible that either one or more of the coils have cracked/split due shorting via coolant or the DFI module has got wet and shorted to earth or whatever. Coolant isn't good with electricity. Hopefully it's still OK.

Mate Id do an error code check on it to see if that shows up anything. This test is quick and easy to do,only takes a minute and can save you a lot of time and money by hopefully pointing you in the right direction to what is wrong.---Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)---If you scroll down near the bottom of the posts in this link, there are some excellent pics and an updated how-to on this test also.
