hey guys first post on this forum sorry if this is in the wrong section.
my name is andrew from victoria and have had my vs ute v8 1995 for couple months and love it.
lately engine light keeps coming on anf flashing now it just stays on the whole time.
so did a research and did the code test and i got lots....
Code 12 - System Pass (OK)
Code 26 - IAT - Voltage Unstable - Auto Transmission Only
Code 31 - Theft Deterrent Signal missing
Code 35 - Idle Speed error
Code 44 - Oxygen Sensor Lean (O2)
Code 45 - Oxygen Sensor Rich (O2)
Code 66 - 3 - 2 Shift Control Solenoid Circuit Fault - Auto Transmission Only
Code 67 - TCC ON - OFF Solenoid Control Fault - Auto Transmission Only
Code 81 - 2 - 3 Shift Control Solenoid 'B' Fault - Auto Transmission Only
Code 82 - 1 - 2 Shift Control Solenoid 'A' Fault - Auto Transmission Only
so my questions are
what do all these mean?
do i need to replace them?
which ones do i need to fix asap?
which ones do i just ignore?
if fixable/replaceable guide me to a shop/place to do so.
thank you very much in advance
First up Id just clear the error codes by disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes. Then re test it again after you have driven it for a while to see which errors come back and to confirm theres a problem..If they do come back then its most likely to be worn out sensors.Sensors wear out over time just like any other parts. Before replacing any sensors though,be sure to check the faulty sensors wiring and connectors to make sure they are clean and tight.
As brett said, disconnect to battery to reset the ECU, get a fresh list of codes and go from there.
Ignore code 12 and 31.
12 is NO RPM signal, which is good because you haven't started the car when you do the test so there shouldn't be an RPM signal.
31 happens all the time to me, its when the little metal nob on your car key doesn't touch the metal ring around the ignition barrel properly when you start the car.
Apart from that you will need a new oxygen sensor to fix 44 and 45.
Maybe a new Throttle position sensor (TPS) to fix 35.
And with the auto faults, it sounds like your 'box has been smashed hard. How are you even driving with those faults? Theoretically it shouldnt even shift gears.
You can replace the solenoids yourself, but it isnt worth the heartache. I would just take it to an Auto tranny specialist and give him the list of codes you got. Most of the $ will be from the labour taking the tranny out, but once he does that it should be easy and cheap for him to fix that stuff.
A faulty TPS can cause the auto transmission to behave erratically, as it uses the TPS to help regulate the gear shifts etc..It could be the cause of the auto trans errors.
ok sweet guys thanks for the info. i will disconnect the battery and re-do the test and see if so many come up again lol.
as for the auto box it has a shift kit in it if that makes a difference. it shifts a bit rougher then a normal car. but its fine.
i was going to convert it to Manuel in the future but looks like needs to be asap lol.
