VS Ute Engine just fitted but engine light coming on and not going into overdrive

hey guys i just got my car back from the wreckers after replacing the motor due to the old one seizing. i got half way home and noticed that the orange light (im assuming engine warning light) was lit and the car had come out of overdrive and driving in 3rd. so i checked the trans oil when i got home and topped it up a little took it for a drive and noticed that when i start the car it idles at 2000rpm for about 30 seconds until the engine warning light comes on then it goes back to normal idle rpm. as well as it revs out way to much then slams into gear and still doesnt select overdrive. does anyone have any idea what the problem could be before i take it back to the wreckers that changed the motor and lose my shit

thats what im doing first thing tomorrow but i dont want them to feed me some bullshit story to get them out of it and try slugging me even more

have you checked the error code yet? Thats the best way of finding out whats the prob

weird ive been driving it around all day today and the engine warning light has not come on at all

could just be a loose plug then, check for error codes as above and then you'l have a better idea.
