about $300. all they usually do is up the pressure so the1-2 shift is firmer. stage 2 they usually put in a new pan and corvette servo and maybe other little things. its about $350 for a stage 2. baywater automatics is a good place. or trickshift in cambelfield (i think).
    cheers.

Whiteside automatics do it installed for $350, on Whiteside Rd, Clayton next door to jetspeed and acroos rd from Holdent wreckers.....Shift kits basically changes the lag between gear changes, instead of smoothly changing thus creating longer shifts for smoothness it pushes straight into next gear, you lose smoothness......but run quicker times....

Probably, but that's life. If you want extra performance, stuff wears out faster. That's the trade off you have to live with, depending on your choices.
I don't like wearing out my shoes, so I just sit down all day.

nah it doesnt wear out ur transmission if its a good shift kit it makes the gear changes quicker and harder reducing slipping in the transmission so the cogs dont grind each other while its trying to change gear and it reduces heat in the trans cause the cogs arnt rubbing each other while shifting,
hard, quick full into gear shifts

They're a strain on just about the entire driveline and yes they do shorten the live of your transmission. Having said that, It's still a great mod if you're looking to chirp the wheels from first to second, definately not wet road friendly, you'll have the ass kicking out alot. I wouldn't mind one if my transmission wasn't already slipping bad enough.

That's an electronic shift kit. They are a total waste of time. That will definitely stuff up your gearbox a lot quicker.

Its hard to know what to do...

50% of ppl say its bad, and the other 50% say its good...

    gettin a bit confused....
those electronic ones are heeps cheaper, n sound more advanced in technology, but i gotta do some more research, its all gettin too confusing.

A Hydraulic Stage 2 Shift kit can be fitted by most transmission shop. They should also do a Corvette Servo at the same time.

i went to that www.shiftkit.com website and it says this in support area

Will it damage my transmission ?

The shift modules will in fact reduce wear and friction within the transmission, therefore your transmission will last longer.

Shift kits for various transmissions have been around for years, but now with the new range of electronically controlled transmissions, these are the only option.

    is this true??

could just be a marketing thing are they saying because I would have thought there would be alot more options due to development.

By dual stage, does that mean stage two? or are they just trying to say daul stge one has two settings.

I've heard that they make the trans last longer, because they lessen the amount of slipping between gear changes, thus makeing your clutches wear less...

But it also depends how you drive. If you're redlining during gear changes all the time, then I expect it to wear out quicker than normal.

well by the sounds of things if you can turn it on and off would the thump really bother you because your in control of when it does it and when it stays normal.

personally i would avoid a shift kit unless you are going to experience slippage. will the amount you spend on a proper (eg not electronic) shift kit really give you the $300 odd it cost for the kit in less trans ware? i doubt it.

I hear they also tear the absolute shit out of the driveshaft centre bearing and can also cause issues like "K" frames wear and tearing.
Saw this once on my sons VP SS. A real scary site to se the "K" frame tearing like a peice of paper

Im no expert, but yes, Id say they would wear out the driveline more quickly.
