    Question Vs bt1 thirsty!

I have recently bought a vs bt1 and after driving a vt around for a bit i find that its really thirsty, ive checked the plugs and they are clean and the exhaust is the right colour so it seems to be running right.
Does anybody notice their vs bt1 is thirsty or are even normal vs' thirsty?

i used to own a vs v6 back in the day and it wasnt uncommon to get 11L/100km city driving (that was a 5 speed though) so yer ecotecs are quite good on fuel. your vs should really be a bit better than a vt though because of the little bit less weight............ i'd recommend you change your o2 sensor as a start, its what i recommend to anyone having fuel economy issues, also maybe clean the maf sensor in the air intake, can sometimes make a difference...... anways good luck with it mate

Get yourself a digital Scale set, sit down and put your right foot on the scale, see how much it weighs then times that by 10, and that's an effective way of measuring your fuel consumption.

If you get 300 - 400km from a tank mixed driving then don't worry as it's pretty normal. On long trips cruising at 110 it will go as low as 7.4 L/100km. I think that seeing as it's a BT1 with lower and firmer FE2 suspension, you tend to drive it a bit harder than the garden variety sedans. The gregorys manual shows how to test the O2 sensors - better to check them if you are thinking of replacing them otherwise you are spending $$$$ for no gain. I replaced mine at about 220,000km and noticed a slight improvement around town but it's hard to measure. Critical on VS models is a good radiator with hoses in good condition and running the proper green coolant.
