Hi after installing a new key barrell ect.
I left the ignition on for 1 Hr and it start I drove for 45 kms hoping to reset comp. ect.
Next day I went to start and nothing so I left ignition on for 1 hr and it just started itself and tried to turn over with a screeching noise from the starter motor!! I quickly shut it off.
I have repeated this process twice and the same result, any clues as to what is going on.
Where did you get your new key from? The only way to reset the computer is to remove the negetive battery terminal for a minute or two. These keys can not be programmed by leaving them in the ignition for a certain time. They need to be programmed first.

Some places like mr minit can partly program a new key,so all you have to do is use it to finish the programming process, but they use your old key to do this. And the old key has to be a working one.Otherwise they cant program them.Holden on the other hand can use a Tech 1 scantool to program new keys using the security code for your vehicle.Holden use your VIN to access your security code online, which then allows them to fully program a new key from scratch.

Yeah,it will need to be programmed first. You can take it to holden,or places like mr minit can do it if you have another working key.Either way,it will cost a few bucks to get it done.(unless you have a mate that works at a holden dealer). It was brand new and not second hand, yeah?
