Does anyone know of a way to change the interior light delay time. Its a VS executive with low BCM..Id prefer to have the interior light turn straight off when the doors are shut, but theres a 30 second delay.
pull the light bulb outrofl nah kiddin bud dunno !!!!!!
any reason why you want it to turn off automatically?
the delay is a relay inside the bcm, if you really wanted to you could dismantle the bcm, bypass the relay... too much ####ing around
the better option is get a calais/statesman interior light and swap yours over, that way you dont have to screw around with the bcm, and you can have the 3 options off/door/on.
The luxury BCM on Berlina or Calais have an adjustable timeout dont they?
On the headlamps, yes. Not sure about the interior lamp other than an auto off function after 1 hour if the door is left open.
Bret_jjj maybe you could splice into the door switch wire and wire into a relay and cut the dome lamp wire out of the BCM. The dome lamp would not turn on when you unlock the car though.

I still want to be able to use the interior light.I was just wondering if anyone has worked out a way to change the time that it stays on.I was hoping when I got a tech 1 , that it might have access to the timer in the BCM,but theres nothing in the BCM menus like that. So, I thought Id ask on here to see if anyone has heard of it being changed at all.I always end up turning the key to the ON position, which turns the light straight off. When the cars actually running,or the ignition key is in the ON position, the light turns straight off as soon as the door is shut. Its only when the key is off that it stays on for the 30 sec.You would think the BCM would have settings that can be changed for stuff like this.Just like you can change how the doors unlock with the remote. You can set it so all 4 doors unlock all at once,or you can just have the drivers door unlock on the first press ,then the other doors will unlock with a second press of the remote or if the button is held in..Thanks anyways peoples.I wonder if its possible to somehow access the timer inside the BCM?

I would think the low/mid BCMs have no way of programming the delay.
More likely a 555 timer chip or something similar is soldered to the board. Maybe if you could workout the lamp circuit on the board, then you could cange the delay time.

Thanks mate,I wonder if theres a schematic of the low series BCM board available.
Never seen one.
Only the pinouts etc.

Yeah, neither have I.Unless someone else has worked out a way to do it,or unless I can find a schematic for it,I dont think I will worry about it.Thanks for your time anyway mate.cheers.And thanks also to the others who answered.
Why don't you just add a switch to the lamp unit - one of those micro switches that can handle 3 amps - then you can just kill it when you want to or leave the delay on.

i thought the upper spec models had the on off door, go the vt interior light then, soo much easier.. or there are a heap of other makes of cars that the interior light is interchangable on.. just finding one with the 3 options. i think some of the fords have this feature, most are the same mounting points also.
as one of the above posters, its all set and not easily changable.
A switch like hako suggested would be the go,but I dont really want to add switches or extra wiring anywhere .Its just to much stuffing around for the end result. It just as easy to turn the ignition key to on for a sec. Thanks guys.
i found some notes i had, im pretty sure the headlight delay is only for mid/high bcm's and i dont think you can change the interior light delay, it's stuck at 30seconds after closing the doors or 2 hours with them left open.
To change the headlight auto off delay.
Switch the Park Lights on
switch ignition to on
hold the instrument lighting down in the dim position
switch the ignition off
open the drivers door (starts timer)
release the dimmer tab and park lights will go out setting the time delay.
