have noticed lately that my statesman seems to change gears in the auto very quickly when not under accelaration.
eg. accelerate out from a corner & reach around 60-70 & the car seems to change from 2nd or 3rd into overdrive very quick succession.will alsodo this when reaching about 85 even if accelarating.
this is my 3rd VS & none of the previous ones had issues.
my question - is this normal ?
cheers
it really depends on how much throttle your using when it will change gears. have a check of your tranny fluid on flat ground and make sure the level is correct. a slight over-fill can cause shit like that. my vp did the same kinda thing at one stage cos of incorrect level of tranny fluid, particularly when the engine and transmission was still cold. good luck mate![]()
Also the TPS(Throttle Position Sensor) when faulty, can cause erratic transmission behaviour. The auto transmission uses signals from the TPS to help control the shifts etc. Also check for any error codes.Heres a link to a page that shows you how to do this.---Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)---
Check that you haven't inadvertently changed the transmission setting from "economy" to "power" - this will cause similar changes to the shift pattern.
