well it just started happening this arvie, felt like it had no guts when accelerating, got home and was just idleing very bad, almost about to conk out, i put my hand over the tail pipe and its just doing a real heavy slow puffing chook a chooka chooka chooka noise lol sorry my best way of explaining it, i fault tested it and nothing, it came back clean, any ideas??? also no signs of blown head gasket either
fuel filter, leads, plugs????
yea mayb plugas leads or the coil pack, maybe test out the plugs n leads n if they work it may be coil pack
How hot was the engine when this happened....does the engine use coolant....any more info?
Also check fuel filter, air filter and exhaust for blockages from running over gutters etc.

The car never over heated, was at normal temp just started playing, the radiator "cap" has a slow leak but i top it up if the coolants getting low, the car doesnt ever really heat up either it gets to normal temp and if in traffic the fans will come on, also if it was 02 sensors wouldn't the engine light come on??? the o2 sensors look like theyve never been changed of the 230 000 ks the cars done, but never a fault code??
sounds like ignition bro, if you've got a mate with commy ask him if you can borrow his parts, change the leads over, if its not that change over the coils and dfi module, try some new plugs, all that failing try cleaning the throttle body and injectors. but it sounds like a plug or a lead to me

i was thinkin changing the plugs first and see how that goes, process of elimination at the moment i spose, problem is i dont get paid till tomorrow, you reckon it will be ok to drive the car today if i take it easy on her? it drives quite fine when above 60kms, only when i starts to come to a stop i can notice its struggling
yeah if it starts and runs it'll be ok, is it only struggling under load or at idle aswell?

struggles alot at idle and under load, drove her around today for about an hour and never over heated, still shifts smoothly etc the only other thing i can think of is a couple of weeks ago code 76 poped up sometimes and went away but isnt showing up now.
code 76 is air fuel ratio so it might be the oxy sensor on its way out throwing faulty codes, dead leads or plugs can cause it, you could have a perished vaccum line check all of them to, a bad injector, unclip each injector harness individualy and listen to the idle, if it idles the same you have a bodgy injector. it will be one of these things just have to eliminate them 1 by 1. I'd check the injectors and vaccum hoses before you throw any money into parts

wait until its dark get a spraybottle with water in it set it on fine mist and spray your leads lightly and if you see a spark theres your problem
My VR is a pig
went over the spark plug leads this arvie, lead 6 was burnt and when i touched it, it snapped lol crazy, so i hope by replacing all the leads and plugs will fix the problem, dam shops are shut now will have to wait till tomorrow, Question is would have these old leads have affected the engine in any way?? or should be right?? i really can't afford another engine at the moment lol
They are pretty rugged motors mate, replace those leads, and plugs if ya want and off she will go again.
If you drive around like that for too long its possible to damage a few things, maybe the DFI, but mechanically not much to worry about.
In the process i did new fuel filter, bottle of injector cleaner, plugs and leads, Cleaned out throttle body, checked for vaccum leaks, turned out to be a coil or 2 dead, runs like a dream now, thanks heaps for all the tips guys
