Default Transmission slipping a bit? not shifting down?

    Hi guys,

I've got a VS Wagon V6, all stock. Seems that it takes off good in the low end..... But if I'm cruising at say 60-75km/h and I floor it, It just goes well gradually faster......... doesn't kick down and push my head back into the seat.......... first V6 i've driven so I'm wondering is there a problem with the trans/computer or do the VS's simply don't have that power up at higher speeds?

    Thanks guys.

cant imagine it putting your head into the seat even if it did kick down..

It should still drop a gear with the accelerator to the floor, even in eco mode.

it should yes, but it's worth trying as it will change differently and hold gear for longer, id also check trans oil level and also check for fault codes Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)

because the trans is controlled by the ecu it can make the trans do funny things when there is something else wrong. i'd try a few simple things first. clean the throttle body and the MAF. make sure you have a good air filter. check the trans fluid (HOT and on level ground) i run mine a little overfull as i find it slips otherwise.

if this still doesn't fix it, i'd try another TPS (throttle position sensor) as this directly affects the trans

    Hi,

Yeah not sure whether it's just me or the cars not behaving well. Air filter, throttle body is clean. Trans oil is good and upto level.
If there are codes stored wouldn't I always have CEL Light coming on?

How do you clean the MAF, I don't want to damage it will degreaser work? But it looks very dry and clean to me when I checked it.

i wouldn't use degreaser you want something that doesn't leave residue like contact cleaner or just buy MAF cleaner at supercheap for a few bucks.

Thanks, I wonder what is in MAF Cleaner......... might just be degreaser rebadged :P ?

Went for a bit of a drive in PWR mode, seems allright. Now the thing I notice, when accelerating normally,
then it shifts into 2nd gear and then when accelerating into 2nd gear, there isn't much difference between
half and full throttle, normal or is that how they just behave?

    Thanks

it's special electronic cleaner, a lot of them are isopropyl alcohol which will evaporate. Full throttle in my car just keeps going, sounds like it's slipping

It might be worth checking/replacing your throttle position sensor. Grab yourself a haynes service repair manual on your next trip to your local parts shop

Have you checked the condition and level of the transmission fluid?
