Has the key ever worked? if not, it sounds like someone has somehow removed/disabled the BCM and if this is so it may be quite difficult to discover exactly what was done to the electricals.

thanks for the quick response. um not that i'm aware, i think it's a new key, it has a chev badge instead of a holden lion on it. just the button for the boot is all that's worked since i've had it

At a guess I'd say the BCM must be recognising the key otherwise the boot wouldn't open and the car wouldn't start, so it must be OK. You probably need to check the fuse on that circuit, number 7 under the dash. Those keyheads with the Chevy logo are the Ebay ones...maybe they have problems.????.
Maybe someone else has a better idea. Sorry I cannot help more.

yea thanks, you've been great. number 7's ok, that's the radio one too isn't it? guess i'll just have to waste a whole second of my life unlocking the door all the time instead of pressing the button

When you unlock via the door, do the other doors open at the same time?

yip, it's kind of stiff though, like it doesn't really want to unlock. you kind of have to hold it for a second and then all the doors unlock. if that means anything

id try with another key mate, head to mr minit or somewhere and get a new key coded and head and see how you go. Might just be a dodgy ebay key head.
