    Default auto to manual

    gday been thinkin bout converting my vr ute from auto to manual.but my mate blew up his manual vr sedan and bought a new motor and the flywheel wouldnt bolt up to the crank as it was a different bolt pattern?apprently he bought an auto engine?dunno if its true but do the autos and manuals have different flywheel/crank bolt patterens?any help would be great!cheers

    The early VN's aka "series 1" the auto and manual cranks were different. The later "series 2" up to VR (and onwards on the ecotec) had the same bolt pattern between auto and manual.

    Both S1 auto and manual were a 6 bolt pattern, but different to each other. S2+ has the same 8 bolt. Hope that helps.

    EDIT: Note that the bolt holes are spaced in a certain way so that the flywheel can only mount up one way.
