I was just wondering if anyone knows how to put the pin code in the stock factory stereo in a Calais. I've had trouble with this even though I have the correct pin. I have taken it to a dealer before but would like to know how to program it myself.
Thanks
Should just be a matter of typing the pin in using the numbers. At least thats how I remember it being when I had the stock headunit. Also from memory if you use a bunch of zero's it will put it into test mode or something and work for about a minute or so.
The VS gregorys workshop book says this:The number 1 will show up in the window with the ignition key in the on position to show how many tries are left..Enter the security code by pressing the numbered preset buttons. If the correct security code is entered, the system will function after 5 seconds. If the security code is wrong, you get 2 more tries at entering it,if its incorrectly entered 3 times, you will have to wait an hour with the unit powered up,before you can try again.
Thanks everyone for your help. I tried to go by the instruction manual but have had no luck. So I'll enter the first digit and then nothing happens then when I enter the second digit it just adds to the last digit typed - not sure if this makes sense the way I've described it but no success so far.
i think its 6 digits
you just enter them in order via the buttons (dont worry about what the display says)
after you enter the 6th digit the unit pauses for a second and turns on
see how you go
Thanks admir87, I finally programmed it. Thanks for your advice. Much appreciated!
The security code for my original VS stereo is only a 4 digit number, which works fine.Ive used it a few times now.The tech 1 scantool on the other hand ,shows it as being a 6 digit number though.Theres two zeros in front of the actual code.Ive never had to enter these two zeros before, just the 4 digits.Hmm.
