vr top gear missing/pulling

this has got me stumped or thumped. when in top gear, generally going up hill car starts this sort of pulling/thumping sensation but when given some gas the auto changes down and the ride smooths out any ideas ? is it missing ? the car does stop in very hot weather and have had some success in pouring water over coil pack.

Try doing a fault code check first: Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised) as it's possible it's the crank angle sensor playing. You can pour cold water over the CAS to get it going again - not sure what you mean about pouring water over the coils as that will damage them. However, the missing problem at cruising speeds is sometimes caused by bad coil(s), leads, plugs or the DFI module....just a process of elimination to find the actual culprit. Good Luck.
