Are the towbars from VS wagons and utes the same??
I need to change the towbar on my wagon to a square type and have got onto one from a ute.
Thanks in advance.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
I myself, believe they are... but to further dispell any myths... can someone tell/show the differences between all the different commodore towbars?
what im getting at... if you go on ebay, the person selling a towbar will say "suits car X" but another guy will sell a different bar that he claims, suits the same car?
also, if its on a sedan, does it matter if you have a 73ltr (V8) fuel tank.... as opposed to the 59ltr (V6) tank? I ask, because, doesnt the fwd support go around the tank?
This is what I know.
Sedans, wagons and utes all have different towbars. The sedans will need an extra bracket on the towbar if it's an IRS rear end. Sedans and wagons come in 2 ratings (1200kg & 1590kg towing capacity), though I am not sure about the ute. The 1590 towbars on sedans need extra bracing in the boot and a transmission cooler. There is a 2100kg option as well but there is a lot of add ons for that to work. To answer the OP's question, according to Holden, the Towbars are different.
Thanks for the replies guys.
According to some aftermarket suppliers, the wagon and ute tow bars are different.
I took some measurements from the ute towbar I was going to buy and it wont clear the fuel tank of the wagon.
Cheers.
