I'm not having a dig... but i hate when people post a thread with a single worded "non relevant" topic... the point of the topic name is to give people an idea of what the thread is about... it would also help others if you specified what youre talking about? the electrical plug? the hole? dirt? a space invader???

Anyway, taking a guess, youre asking about the thread hole??

If i am correct, i believe its just an unused thread... but a zoomed out pic would help others to triangulate exactly where it is...?? (Where exactly behind the thermostat housing, there are a few bolts/holes behind there...)

You're missing a valley/inlet manifold bolt, thats why you have a hole there. There's no thread in the alloy, but there will be below that in the cast iron cylinder head. Head to the wreckers to remove one and replace your missing one. This could be causing an air leak with it missing which would result in an irratic/uneven idle.

The hole is just a hole, unused, nothing to it, the intake manifold runs past it and has nothing to with it. Every V6 i have seen is the same. Carbon buildup could be a number of things, week spark from coil pack to the plug, a bad plug/lead or a number of substances contaminating the mix. Can you give us any more info?

back firing is usually running to lean or to rich, have you checked for fault codes Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised) ? I dont know how it could pop an injector out as there bolted in by the pelium, the fuel pressure could be to high or the orings on the injectors are stuffed, if the fuel pressure is to high then it would be running to rich.

Um, don't mean to get off topic, but you might want to have a little closer look... No hole in an ecotec manifold is unused. There will be a correcponding thread in the head under this hole. If you've seen many like this then they've all been missing this bolt

you are correct, i couldn't really see in the photo, that photo has the bolt missing in the intake manifold correct, there is a bolt right next to the manifold though in the head itself which isn't used, which was what i was referring to
