Intruiging Ignition Issue

Hey guys, did a few searches and couldnt find a lot on a similar issue, because i dont realllly know what to look for.

My 93 VR Berlina has an issue (more so than ever now) that when you go to turn the car on, it will make a big click but doesnt turn over or anything, and it will take a good 5-10 times to get the engine to turn over.

In addition to this, when using my power windows all the lights dim in the car, and sometimes if i use the right rear window switch it kills power to the headunit and lights until i take my finger off (doesnt happen all the time)

Are the two problems seperate, or combined in what could be an absolutle catastrophic electrical fail?

a couple issue types come to mind. either or both occuring

1. ur battery is fubar - when was the last time it was replaced? generally you'll get 2 years before a replacement is needed.
2. your alternator isnt charging - could be warn brushes - remove the 2 screws on the black box located on the back of the alt and remove it and check the length of the 2 brushes
. - could be corroded power cable to the battery - check the big cable that is located on the back of the alt, make sure it isnt green or has broken wires.
