    You can technically do it.
BUT, you have to have it tested and approved by the RTA to certify that it complies with the ARD specified emission's of the time. Which isn't going to be easy with a carby 308.

You could just put VR/VS front panels onto a VK.

Probably the easiest way of doing it

im pretty sure you can only if you run it on straight gas
you will have to check with an engineer who is an rta signatory though

thats if you are in nsw

There are pics of a white contertible commodore floating around. Its a VK with the roof chopped off and VS front panels bolted on.

It would be a bit of a piss about, but I reckon its do-able.

Probably is doable. But if the lad wants to put a carbd 308 in a VS, I HIGHLY doubt he as the skills or the money to do that.

so soop,it only has to comply with the adr emission rules of 1997.fabrication of mounts etc is no trouble(sheetie) i just wanna it to be not the norm a vs v8 in a vs is not unique or different, and i have a soft spot for the humble trimatic

You will never get it past the same stringent emissions tests that 1997 cars had to pass..If the car manufacturers cant get a carby V8 past them, its unlikely anyone could.Thats the main reason why car makers went to full engine management systems with VN,to meet the strict emission rules and tests set out by the government back then. They are even more stringent now though then back then..Ive read somewhere that its a completely different story if the car is made to run full time on LPG though.Either it doesnt have to pass these emission rules or it complies with them when running on LPG.I could be totally wrong about this,I read in on the net.You would have to look into it more,Id contact the RTA or whoever in your state.

You may find the emission laws now read 'spark ignition engine' rather than 'petrol engine' to get around the LPG loophole.
As above, research your states emission and registration laws. I also think you will never get a carburettor to deliver the required emissions.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
