Okay...so I just switched over my front speakers in the car for new components...in which I had to full a wire through the pipe in the door spacer for the tweeters
Since then, my car wont centrally lock...as in, I lock the doors then it unlocks again straight away?
I know for sure there is nothing wrong with the BCM nor the solanoids... so any ideas?
Could it be an interference with the new speakers or a slipped plug?
You may have unplugged the door switch, then the BCM will think the door is still open and won't lock them via central locking.
The actuator linkage may also be snagged causing the door to not lock properly (either master actuator on either side).. that will cause that fault.
hmm thanks guys! I just looked through the car...and found that all the doors lock minus the drivers side door...which shows that its not a BCM problem and there may be a fault (slipped wire or broken) with the actuator.
Gah..I am really not sure what to do?
Hey guys another update you can think about...
I decided to have a little play and noticed the following:
When I lock the door manually it looks all the other doors (good thing)
When I unlock the door manually it unlocks all the other doors (good thing)
Yet...when I try to keyless lock it...the front right door simply DOES NOT move...it seems as if the lock is stuck or something?
If I was to WD40 the s*** out of it...where should I? haha
Ive seen the lock/unlock button on the inside of the door get jammed against,or bind against the door trim around the lock button hole in the trim and cause this problem. If youve had the door trim off recently, then this is worth checking out.Just loosen the door trim screws and push the trim board one way or the other slightly and then hold it there while retightening the trim screws again. You might have to move it a couple of times to get it in the right place again.
Yeah, just sounds like the trip is snagging the actuator linkage or the top of the lock clip (orange thingy that tells you door is open/locked
Hey brett thanks for the suggestion...I dont think its it though coz I have been meddling with it for hours with the door trim off and still no luck locking it.
Ugh Azk...I dont understand the actuator linkage bit sorry pal. could you perhaps elaborate? as for the lock clip i dont think its that coz as i said a moment ago i have been trying with the door trim off? :S
I think the actuator just has carked it...its factory anyways...
hmmm thoughts?
For years I put up with the problem of the doors locking/unlocking when the remote button was pressed but fixed it recently by replacing the driver's door lock actuator. This was a non-genuine unit (a Dynamco) costing about $35. A new genuine unit was priced at about $200. The only issue I had was sorting out the 5 coloured wires and matching them to the wires left on the car when I cut off the socket that plugged into the original (faulty) actuator. If you buy a Dynamco unit the wires are Black - Common, White - Open, Brown - Closed, Green - Power, Blue - Power. The wires on the car are: Black - Common, Red/Brown - Open, Orange/Brown - Closed, Black/Yellow - Power, Black/Red - Power. (Where I state e.g. 'Black/Yellow' this is the one wire with a trace - and I can't remember which is the trace). You simply match the wires from the new actuator to those wires left in the door. The only problems I had was with the power wires which I had the wrong way around on first try and I needed to cut away the lever on the door lock as it was too wide to engage in the hole provide on the new actuator. Grinding it away with a dremel did the trick.
08sky thank you so much for soooo much insight!
Im gonna give it a go trying to find a genuine one but used...go car yards or ebay or something!
otherwise I will go for the dynamco unit! Thanks once again, Its good knowing people are willing to help!
Gives me peace of mind
HI.. just started having a few problems with our Vr today but i'll post the relevent one here..
not sure weather its related to the issue when i installed a new battery, anyways the issue with the central locking one lock doesn't unlock, it so happens to be on the drivers side front door, so the issue is with that door tho manually unlocking from the passenger doesn't unlock the driver door but i have to manually unlock it as well, but locking manually from passenger side still fails to lock but all other locks unlock automatically yet manually locking from the driver side locks all locks... confusing i know.. just wondering where i should start to trouble shoot to solve the issue..
thanks...
Badboy I have the exact issue you have! I followed all wiring and everything is fine, so I came to the conclusion that the actuator is dead, so I will be getting one tomorrow!
i will inform you if this is a quick fix or not.
Mine used to do things like this after heavy rain ... could be water related ?
