Default Intermittent stalling and restarting issues

As far as I can tell I have a very similar problem to the member in this thread:
    Engine stall

I had issues recently and in the last 6-12 months I have replaced the fuel filter (new), plugs and leads (new), DFI module with coil pack (used), fuel pump (new) but have now developed ANOTHER problem. I first noticed it about 2 weeks ago when I slowed down to make a turn off a very busy road. The engine just died and I was left in no-man's-land trying to get it started. I managed to get it to fire a few times but only enough to make it another hundred metres. After a while I started it without a problem and drove away.

Today, I was doing a 100km round trip and on the way back the car just died. I tried to start it but it took until I had slowed down to about 40kph before it fired and stayed started. I managed to get up to 100kph again when it did it happened again. Once again it took a while before it stayed started and after angrily bouncing it off the rev limiter for a few seconds I continued on problem free.

Later today it drove fine until I had to stopped it and tried to restart it. It took several minutes and then started.

I have read all the different comments relating to CAS, BCM and a few other things in the other threads but none seemed exactly like my problem.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

    Cheers!

I reckon its the Crank Angle Sensor mate. Sounds like once it heats up, it packs up.

    Fairly common.

Check for error codes.Heres a link to a post that shows you how to do this.---Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)--- Theres a big chance of it being the CAS though, and they dont always set error codes when they stuff up either. If it is the CAS,try to get a genuine holden one. Some of the cheap ones are rubbish and can cause even more problems.

Sort of speaks for itself doesn't it? :-( Well, I guess I know what to replace now. I just have to get a hold of a seriously long breaker bar and go crazy on the harmonic balancer. Hopefully I should be able to get out of trouble (by doing it myself) for a little over $50.

Thanks again for your help everyone.

You will need a 3 bolt type harmonic balancer puller, dont get the 3 leg type. You will also need three 1/4 UNF bolts about 2-3 inches long to connect the puller to the balancer. If the balancer is not removed this way,you can stuff it up.The balancer is made of two pieces of metal joined with rubber, and can easily be broken if not removed properly. These pullers are available cheap at places like supercheap etc.Its not cheap to replace the balancer if you stuff it by removing it wrong.Cheers.
