My ute has been having some troubles of late but the most tricky one to diagnose is why the engine stumbles and carries on for a while after starting , this usually continues for 20 min of normal driving or so, but when its wet or cold its much worse. The longest time it did it for in one go was about 200k (lismore to brissy!) if anyone has a clue why it would be doing this it'd be much appreicated !
Check for error codes.Heres a link to show you how to do this.---Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)---
thanks i'll get my uncle to check it for me
check your spark plugs, leads.. could be coil pack..
cheked all those
Did the error codes show up anything?
check your earth wires, might be one loose... easy way to tell is run a thickish wire from your - (black) terminal on battery to somewhere out of the way on your engine take it for a drive and see how it goes if it works then theres the problem.. worth a try..
havnt done the error codes yet , will check earth wire now
Id start with checking the codes,it only takes a minute or two and is easy to do.
yeah but i dont know how![]()
mate mine did the same thing one time. i had the gearbox serviced and asked them to check the car over. they reckon they couldn't find a problem and everything was perfect and it never happened after that. so a transmission service fixed mine. didn't throw any codes up either. and it all happened when it was pouring rain one time and i was driving in it for over an hour. since then i've been in worse rain and no worries. cairns and back, no worries...
i checked the earth wire and im gonna take it into the shop in the next few days - thanks eveyone for your help![]()
Did you work out how to do the error code check?Did you look at the pictures and read the revised instructions near the bottom of the posts in the link?
