engine number

Hi all, new to the forum.
I have just bought a 2000 vs series 3 v6 ute as a highway driver,the ute supposedly had a new engine fitted.

just curious as to where the engine number is on these so I can compare against the rego papers.

On ecotec V6 it should be under the water pump inlet pipe area there somewhere on the block.You may have to remove the bottom radiator hose from the engine to get a better look in there.

thanks for that,hoses coming off tommorow so i'll have a look then.
