i own a 94 vr hsv,it has a security in it,when i lock the doors with the remote the security light in side the car comes on and flashers the way it should do,with all the doors locked the security system activated,i went up to my car unlocked the doors with the key not the remote opened the door and no alarm,i started the car no problem,i dont understand why the alarm does not go off,i owned a 95 calais some months ago now when i did the same thing to that car the same way the alarm when off,is the factory alarms all the same,a the moment anybody could go up to my hsv and unlock the door and drive it away.i opened the bonnet and there is some sort of alarm modual on the passenger side strut tower in the engine bay it has a security key to put in it,i put the little key in it and tuuned it the alarm siren went off gave me a hell of a fright,i dont under stand way it not working when i open the door?????
Sounds like the alarm was turned off, so the alarm never activates?
So when you use your remote to unlock, it disables the immobiliser and then allows you to start.
Also if you unlock the door with the key and start the car, the key reader on the ignition barrel picks up that its the right key and allows the car to start.
Try another door, boot, bonnet? mabie it is working but the door sensor on that door isnt working properly
