hey guys i just done my front wheel bearings this Arvie, just need a bit of advice to check that i done it right, in the gregory's manual it said to put some gasket/ sealant on the mating surfaces, i just smeared some all around the surface of the hub where the surfaces connect??, and also put some loctite on the hex bolts, sound right? i didn't understand in the book if it meant to put gasket sealant on the bolts? i dunno i'm just paranoid i guess, cheers![]()
Sounds good to me - to be honest, I only used Loctite on the hex bolts and some grease on the mating surfaces which should be the same as sealant as it's only to keep moisture out and the gap that is sealed is paper thin.

ok cheers hako... them hex bolts it sais to tighten them to the right torque, i couldn't torque them because i don't have the right connections, so i just got a hammer and gave a few good whacks on the allen key, not to tight where it would strip but tight enough that they ain't gonna come out, Oh and hubs were 97$ per side with 2 year warranty![]()
Mine were $330 for one and $410 for the other about 6 years ago....with ABS. Since they started making them in China the price has dropped. I used a length of pipe on the allen key as well and they haven't fallen off yet. When I did mine it was to get rid of a rumble from the hubs on corners - turned out the hubs were OK and the fault was my el cheapo tyres which I later discovered were banned in the USA due to them not being made with a tread breaker - then they were dumped in Australia and suckers like me bought them.

ive read everywhere that you can't repack the bearings in the vs hub, the old hubs i took off this Arvie look totally different to the new ones i got, the old one have a big ass bolt on them that looks like you can undo and put new bearings in, not sure though, probably cant, the new ones just have a raised closed smooth surface that you couldn't possible get into, " there non abs by the way"
