Default VR series 2 ute power windows

Hi, i have just installed power windows in my vr series 2 ute. I am having trouble getting power to the window switch. I have used a passenger switch which doesnt have the lock on it, i also have both plugs under the stereo for drivers & passenger switch's. Ive put a fuse in 5 on the fuse panel & it has a relay for the windows but no power to the switch.
can anyone help with this problem?
    Cheers Dean

You might have to change the ute BCM (Body Control Module) to a low series BCM from a VR executive etc that has power windows fitted.(not berlina or calais which have medium or high series BCM's fitted).Im pretty sure the utes didnt have the right BCM to support central locking or power windows. You need to change the key fob as well. This is because the key fob and BCM are coded together for the immobiliser. If the wrong key fob is used, the BCM wont allow the car to start,so you have to have the same ignition key fob from ther car that the BCM comes from so they match. You just gotta swap the plastic fob over to your ignition key then.

Your existing power window wiring you've found under the dash and to the doors etc. is controlled by the BCM. Using a VN/VP window control module bypasses the BCM and external relays. In short, the wiring is quite different. I've done many power window installs with this method. If you check out the 'how to' section of this forum there's one on how to install power windows. Somewhere towards the end of this I have uploaded some holden wiring diagrams for the VN/VP power window system for both front only and front and rear windows. If you use the VP module you'll have to chop and change some of the existing wiring.

Also, when you say you've used a passenger switch without a lock on it do you mean you've used one of the long power window switches to suit front and rear windows? When doing front power windows only you use the small switches that are the same as the rear door switches. May also seem silly, but did you check there is a contact on both sides of fuse 5 and not the top only?

You will need the module wiring loom from l/h door plug to r/h door plug from the vp donor car for it to work...on a vp it has a separate loom for window/door locking...

Or you can just run your own wires too. From the module you'll need to run two wires to each door.

Alls good, i made my own loom & used the vp module with the passenger switch(without child lock).
Had no problems & its working well, had both contacts on fuse 5 so used this for power.
    Thanks for the help.
