Default Quick Diff Question *VS SS LSD into VS V6*

Hey everyone, just a quick question, wondering if this diff will be a straight swap -

VS SS LSD. I imagine it would be ABS and IRS as well.

Into to my car, VS Calais V6, open diff.

    Thanks!

anything that is irs so from VS to VT series 1 should be the same, anything newer will be the 3 bolt , all you need to make sure is that you buy a 4 bolt that is the only differnece

You have IRS, so just disconnect the CV joints and tailshaft, drop out your Open wheel unit and fit up the SS one. Both VS, Both IRS, both have ABS...should be completely fine. Maybe take it to a diff specialist and get them to service it at the same time? Always a good idea.

So would I be correct in saying a VY SS diff wouldn't fit because it's 3 bolt not 4 bolt?

Yes, you are correct. However, I do believe you can change the centers (i.e. dig out the LSD center and use that one)

Both 28 spline so it should be a simple fit.

Correct me if I am wrong

I think you can unbolt the diff bit its-self and not the whole assembly (arms etc) and that will fit from a vy ss. You're right about the centres though.

if you want to put a 3 bolt diff in out of a vy just find your self a tail shaft with a 3 bolt end on it and use the back of it and front half of your existing tailshaft, $1000 Bucks fitted is a lil bit steep. they are piss easy to fit, there is 8 allen key bolts on each axle, 4 bolts that hold the diff mount rubbber in place then 4 17mm bolts that hold the diff to the cradle , it can be done in around 1.5 hours considering your exhaust doesnt get in the way

My exhaust probably will get in it the way, it's not standard VS. Thanks for the info about the tailshaft, so just grab the end of the VY tailshaft too and it's all good?

Doesn't bother me as long as I can get it on at the end of the day, cheers.

Not going with the $1k installed anymore, looking at a different one with only 78 000kms on it.

Should do it your self mate , took me like 3ish hours on my first shot . theres a write up somewhere .
But if you don't have the time i guess you would be looking around $500 to install ( you supply parts)

So it looks like i'll be getting a diff from a vy ss. 78,000kms. Can anyone explain the differences to me? Is it just the tail shaft? Will the abs sensors, etc work ok?
