hey guys i am newy to your cool site so forgive me for what i am about to ask, i am doing a v6 turbo buick conversion in my vq statesman, its just different so don't knock, its got all good bits and proven combo will make around 650 hp,anyway i have approval from my mod plater as long as it injected and has cats he is happy, the injection i am going center point Holley blow threw or i might convert my holley manifold over ,now i am going to run aftermarket ecu as i have no way of attaching a crank angle sensor or a crank trigger dizzy, when it comes to wiring up how much of a prob is it going to be not running the factory ecu , what else does the factory ecu control, info much needed guys please no sarcasm for doing something different as the buicks are a aswome engine as i have the factory turbo engine
hi guys, in other words by removing the ecu what other than the dash speedo will i have to bypass to make work again , does the ecu control climate control or abs or the steering rack solenoid , is there some way i can inject the engine using the same injection setup and run the standard ecu without a crank trigger
why can't you run crank angle sensor? You can use an 808 ecu, checkout delcohacking.net, BCM controls climate control, hi level lux, abs has it's own computer.
thanks for the reply , i was told by several turbo buick sites that the timing front cover of the late model is interchangeable
but how do i run the later harmonic balance to suit the crank angle sensor as it as different belts
am sorry not to familiar with ecus , so how can the 808 ecu by wired up to suit with crank angle sensor , will the wire into my vs loam or can it be piggy backed in , and again the info is apreicated cheers
Some more info about the engine might help. Is it out of a GN? Does it use a distributor?
The VS PCM controls the trans. and the engine and nothing else. The BCM does interact with the PCM to enact the anti-theft system (power up the PCM).
If it runs a distributor, the GM HEI signal should be usable into any aftermarket computer but if you want to use the 1227808 (VN, VP, JD/JE Camira, N13 Pulsar, Astra) you will have some extra work to do (what that work is I think what you are asking, yes?). An rpm signal is easy enough but the CAS has a second signal which is processed by the DFI module to determine which cylinders (paired) to fire.
