hey guys currently in my vs i have installed lowered king springs all round and also monroe lowered sport shocks..
just wondering what else i have missed out in regards to improving the feeling of the ride and handling as im not quite happy with it atm..
also when i hit a large bump when driving, the back end comes down hard and makes a screeching noise only on one side.. any ideas of what could be the issue with that??
cheers james
Lowered springs are firmer to stop your car from bottoming out. Get used to the rough ride.
As for your screeching noise, no idea...
yer i was aware of that but is their anything else i can add to or do to help it a bit?
mmm it has gotten me worried aha
Throw the Monroe shocks in the bin and fit some Koni.
Std FE2 springs aren't too bad as far as handling and the lower rate than most aftermarket springs gives a better ride.
Top quality tyres will help grip levels no end.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
is yours live axle and did you fit an adjustable panhard bar?
aha mate just bought them.. their not to bad better than my stock ones
yer live axle and yer thats one thing i know i probs should get soon but my thinking is while im looking at installing it i may as well fix the whole suspension up at once
Mate I got a 94 Vr berlina sedan, And as soon as I lowered my car and slapped it upside the head with a set of 20's, It did the same thing, what I found was that the tyres were scrubbing on the inside of the rear guard. Try getting a rolling pin (not your Mums favourite one) or a piece of round steel and sit it between your guard and the top of your tyre on a 45 degree angle pointing toward the ground and get a mate to gently, I mean gently move the car forward, then backward a few times and roll the inside of the guard. I found that the front guards came factory rolled but the rear are not. This could be the problem. It took me a while to work it out coz it was really hard to see the scrub marks on the rear tyres. Hope this helps![]()

if its only one side then yeh maybe panhard rod need change to adjustable one. you lower your car and the rear axle will move to one side (cant remember which side), and if its excessive or you have biggish wheels it could scrub.
wanna way to check? get some plasticine or playdough and line the inner lip on the wheel arch so that its all covered. Go for a drive over some bumps to induce some of that odd screeching and then well if the playdough has scourmarks through or chunks missing or deformed it then its a sure way of telling you that the wheel is rubbing the guard.
SO basically, +1 for the adjustable pandard rod. :P
i have a brand new pedders one you can have for $140.00, if interested.
yes an on car adjustable panhard rod and im in thomastown vic, but can post it to you if you want.
you could try a wreckers if you wanted a cheap adjustable panhard bar im sure they might have one, also adjustable panhard bars are real easy to fit and depending if its an on car or off car adjustable they are pretty easy to adjust you just have to get the same gap between the guard and tyre on both sides
yeah, its a malleable compound that is dead useful, i needed playdough yesterday when i was making an amp mounting board to fit in the centre seat (to gauge clearances).
And to the installation of panhard rod, yeah its just 2 bolts, one on the axle one on the body. I think the mechanic dude said that the car will tend to slump to one side once its off, so youll hvae to get a big mate to push on side of the car to get the bolts to line up. Ive gotta do my panhard rod bushes soon ( when bloody holden spare parts opens)
