hey guys just need some help with my vs the fan doesnt want to work to keep it cool so ive replaced the thermostat, temp guage sensor, and coolent temp sensor and its still not turning on so would like some help cheers?
To test the cooling fan and its systems, just remove the ECU temp sensor wiring from the temp sensor.(Theres 2 temp sensors, one is for the temp gauge which has 1 single wire, the other for the ECU and has multiple wires). Then start the engine. After approximately 12 seconds the cooling fan should switch on to low speed. Then after a further 6 seconds, the fan should then switch to high speed. If the cooling fan does this, the cooling fan and its systems are all working ok.
As above but if it does not switch on then you would need to check the fuse and check the relay(s) if they are OK then there are probably issues with the control electronics.
Welcome to the forum.
I'd instal a simple over-ride switch that allows you to manually turn the fan on/off - this presumes the fan is working which the above tests will prove. Remember that it's quite normal for the fan not to switch on till the gauge is between 1/2 and 3/4....mine switches on at 3/4 and has never boiled in 7 years of ownership.
