Default grinding noise from front left and metal shards found on inside of wheels?

    Hey everyone

My brakes haven't been great for a while but today on my way home there was a loud grinding noise from the front left above 20 Km/h when I touched the brakes the noise stopped and when released started again, when I got home I noticed alot of metal shavings sitting on the inside of my rims.

Is the problem only the pads or something entirely different?

if you had no pads left it would get worse when you put the brakes on, have you had a look to check for damage? Stuck stones etc?

Not yet as I just got home and the car is too low to have a good look without jacking it up, however since it started the pedal is going further to the floor

I'd say your pads are near non existent and you have metal to metal contact.

If your discs are thick enough, you can get them remachined, if not, you'll be up for new ones and of course new pads.

Much easier to not let them get to that point and change pads when they need it

Do not fit pads unless the discs have been machined or replaced. Fit them WITH the machined or new discs.

The pads need to bed in to the mating surface.

Hahahaha so true, i would say ur best off just gettin new rotors & save the stuffin around, standard replacements aint that much more than machining anyways

true, though might put the extra 2 it and put slotted on the front seen some deals where if you buy the pair of RDA discs you get free pads.
