Default What are the differences between the VS V6 column shift auto and T-bar Autos?

Just taken out a mates V6 and auto out of his '97 ute and was told the column shift autos are different to the rest?
He intends to put a V8 out of his old VN so would like to know if he needs a specific auto box for the column shift?

From what I remember, the column autos have a slightly shift rod coming out of the box. The two flats are in a slightly different position so when used in a floor shift you can't select manual 1st.
( or the other way round, floor shift into column??)
I got caught with this once about 5 years ago. Pain to sort as the shift rods are almost identical to look at.
Other than that, all else should be the same.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Not really related to the g/box itsself, but Column shift cars got an ash tray in the drivers door card and had no map pocket on the drivers door.
