Big black box sitting on the firewall near the intake pipe. Green plug.

ok this is what i have been told in the past, dont presume i am correct cos i may not be lol, but try this-

start your car up, then while the car is idling pull off the hose that connects to the bottom of the map sensor, the car will most likely start idling like shit and probably stall. if this happens you have a good map sensor but if the car doesnt really change much when you pull the hose off then your map sensor is ****ed. anyone disagree with this method ?????? good luck champ

just saw your other thread about getting error code 33. by any chance have you removed your throttle body recently? if so, double check to make sure the hose from the map sensor is connected to the throttle body properly, if the hose isnt connected then this is likely to be your problem....... it connects to the back of the throttle body (you can just squeeze your hand in between the throttle body and the firewall) to connect it if its not , otherwise a new map sensor shouldnt be more than 20 bucks from a local wreckers (or something like $200 from genuine holden lol)

If it was a loose vac hose wouldn't the code have been a vac leak ? Code was low voltage map sensor. Try cleaning the terminals with electrical cleaner before you buy a new one.

this is just something that came to mind thats happened to me in the past...... wouldnt explain the code 33 but could be why the car isnt starting. make sure the gear selector is in park or neutral lol, i had the car off the road for 2 days once cos it wouldnt start, before i realised it was in reverse for some reason lol

that method should work zskinner, or you can kink the hose, instead of disconnecting, but i would think car would, start then stall if it was the problem, i would check
    (1) you can 'hear' the fuel pump for few seconds with key at 'on',
    (2) check for spark while cranking (remove 2 leads from coil pack, should see nice blue spark across the two while mate cranking engine)

if both these tests are ok then look into computer and sensory stuff....

or let me know more specifically, is it a problem all of a suddon or have you just done a motor swap or was having trouble starting then not at all or what?
