Just wondering if anyone is able to help me with this one; Purchased a series 2 manta private sale it was running abit rough but had only done 8000km in 8 years so i thought it just needed abit of drive time and agood tune etc. Tuned the car and it got worse, tried reading codes and got no flashes at all. Pulled out the computer and the computer and memcal is out of a v8 vn. Contacted Holden they checked the car to find it was also previously and auto and now its manual which Hsv confirmed. Im ok with basic mechanics but this is over my head. If someone could help me with what computer i need and harness etc for the car to run. Does need to be specific for a HSV and the manual trans.
cheers
Being a manta this will be a 185i and finding an original manual tune to suit you could be looking for a long time. I would guess when it's been converted they've modified the auto engine harness and kept the original auto pcm and just put in a vn 5L manual memcal. As you've found, it'll work, but not the best. In my opinion i'd say rather than look around for an original one, just get a custom tune done on a memcal to suit your setup i.e replicate a standard hsv 185 manual tune and maybe even get it tweeked a little while you're on itThere's plenty of tuners around that can do this. I'd recommend speaking to Dick at Dick's Electronics in Sydney. I can only compliment his great work and he's quick too. 02 9543 5544
