Default VT Supercharged V6 into Vs Series II

    Hey guys,

I'm looking at putting a supercharged ecotec V6 out of a series 1 VT into my Series II VS.

Wiring aside, am i able to simply use the VT ECU and re-code the necessary keys, or do i need to retain my VS ECU and find a VT SCV6 Tuned Memcal and install that?

Also, is it possible to use the VT Auto or do i need to again use my VS parts.

There's a possibility of getting a Getrag 5-speed also out of another VT, apart from bypassing the inhibitor etc, is there anything else i need to do regarding ECU's etc if i choose to run the 5-speed?

    Cheers

best head over to www.l67torque.com • Index page - wealth of knowledge on the Supercharged motors.

that aside, having done the conversion myself (albeit in a VR):

    - you can use the VT PCM, will need to get the security turned off though. Cons are that you won't have an engine light or security, and will need to get tricky with the wiring harness ie. graft it in to the VS body harness. Pros are that you don't need to do any hunting for extra parts.

    - best option is to find a VS L67 PCM and harness. Pros are that security will work as factory via the Body Control Module (thing that the keys talk to), check engine light will work, and it will be plug and play with the engine-body harness afaik.

    - VT auto trans will bolt in, need to cut some metal out of the bellhousing though to allow the exhaust to clear. Uses same mounting points. Will run off both VT and VS ECU.

    - If you do go manual, need to get the PCM/memcal reburnt with a 'manual tune' that has all the auto parts of the tune replaced with manual parts so to speak, although you can get away without it, just have an engine light always on.

If you do go with an auto i'd recommend using the vt box. They're much stronger than the vs.
Don't forget you'll also need to add a coolant temp sender to the LIM as there won't be one in a vt l67. This is what works your cluster temp gauge.
You can also use your vs pcm and get an l67 tune (auto or manual depending on what way you decide) burnt onto a new memcal. You can also modify your existing auto loom (basically requires a few wires extended) to use with the l67.

Thanks guys, still sorting out bits and pieces. Leaning towards getting my existing ECU flashed to suit the L67 tune.

Do you know of any workshops/tuners that sell the required memcal for my VS ecu to run the L67?

Give Dick from Dicks Electronics in Sydney a call on 02 9543 5544. L67's are one of his specialties and he can do one no probs and also give it a bit of a tweek while he's on it to suit any other mods you may have or plan to do.
