Title pretty well says it all
What would be the best brakes to install on my VS V6.. ?
Well not the best but ya know.. sick of having spongey brakes which I noticed are vibrating through the steering wheel after new bushes were put on
I used to machine brakes for a living try out QFM - good stopping power / NO DUST & they last forever.. Just did 100.000 k with mine & still have 1/3 of the pad left & I don't spare them at all. Biggest problem with Commodore is heat buildup as the caliper is in front & they cant get any air to cool - you can bend the backing plates back to direct some air in or run some tubing from th front - better still get some bigger rotors from other models as std's where way too small . Plain jane model has sad brakes but there was an option for larger ones - I don't know the details though of what you have to do to switch over. Avoid pads from Supercheap as they just do not last..20,000k at the most...
go slotted to prevent glazing and if its spongey change your fluid and bleed the system
Bigger Rotors is what ill be after, slotted VT brakes are bigger & would fit onto a VS?
I dont wanna spend a great deal of money, these seem like a decent price & will no doubt be better than my standard brakes?

Drilled & slotted work well too if not better & you can do your own if you want to - if you have a drill press - you can get something to countersink the hole - just mark out a pattern with a compass - brake pads have whats called out gassing - with the heat it builds up between the pad & the rotor - if you fit slotted or drilled it relieves that pressure buildup so you have full contact with the pad at all times. I also used to do modified flywheels - lighten them & drill holes on the inside surface facing - helps keep them cool & gets rid of dust. But larger rotors are the go - bigger they are better the pulling up power.
db1085CT and DB1086CT. good value for money, racv discount too at repco :P. or just ask and ill do a deal![]()
If you fit these I think you will need the VT calipers and pads and that means you also need to replace the master cylinder to a VT one with a bigger bore otherwise the pedal will travel too far and all that adds up to big $$. I'd be trying some slotted rotors and good quality pads first unless you can get the VT parts cheap.
bugger that, ill just stick with slotted rotors for vs, $375 for front & back R.D.A. rotors plus pads sounds like a good deal?
thanks for the reply
