Are you having belt slip issues?

If not, I would leave it as is.

And yes, you won't be driving your air con compressor with a toothed pulley

They dont call gilmer belts the aircon and alternator destroyers for nothing. Be prepared to replace your alternator often.

How will it loose air con? if you mean lose your air con, then no, you can get the adaptor pulleys to suit air con.

Dont bother man I did It to a VS 5L and what a #### and it keeps costing for alternator bearings etc and end of the day it was only for the sound couse you cant drive round with a missing bonet to show it off. If your keen get a charger and an ADD on type set with the gilly that only runs the charger. good luck

Hey mate. ive recently put one on my vs ute. you can buy the full kit on ebay to run your air con and power steering as well, (a.t. racing world) think it was about $270. they stay the original belt for the air con and power steering except they are running on the new pully. the new toothed belt runs your of your crank, water pump and alternator. everything will go on sweet, the only modification is you have to space the power steering out with longer bolts and get a few extra nuts to lock the bracket in. the bolts you will need are 3/8, 3 inch long x 3. dont over tighten your belt as you will have problems with the alternater bearings as previously said. you will also need a rattle gun to get the nut of the alternator to put the new pulley on. I also didnt put the ugly clutch fan back on, i picked up some twin au thermo fans for $140 and installed them..looks great, supercharger would be the go, but the gilmer drive still sounds cool anyway.. pretty straight forward job if youve got basic mechanical knowledge. good luck. Cheers Patto

before i put my new engine in, i put the pulleys on so i guess it made it a bit easier.. also forgot to tell you that you will need longer bolts for the crank and water pump, so just take the old ones out and take them down to your hardware store and get the right length required to fit the drive.. easy as, good luck

Take out your old bolts and head down to your local fastners shop and ask for some longer ones.
