Default VS / VT valves & seats - hardened??

Anyone got any idea of what the go is with VS / VT seats & valves - running LPG & Flash lube as a precaution ATM - heads coming off soon & I need to know what to do - about time there was an LPG section here too - would be great if someone knows who to chat with about it...Also are all the Ecotec heads that same size -are any smaller at all ?? Want to go up in compressions..

vs-vy heads are all the same and interchangable. The seats are hardened, however, different seats can be installed for better life with lpg applications. Would be worth having a chat with a reconditioner about these. You've got 2 options to increase compression on an ecotec, either with pistons or shaving the heads. If you do shave the heads you'll also have to get the alloy inlet manifold shave down accordingly aswell.

Well personally - I have replaced a few v6's with noises in them - but never had one apart - I suppose where I was working it was a majority of Fords there at the time & I was known to be a Ford mechanic though I had worked on many other brands at dealers as well. Fitted plenty of complete reco engines - I suppose nowadays you only have apart what your inclined to modify or if your at a dealer under warranty - though never needed to pull heads off & done thousands of Fords head gaskets & heads. I was predominately behind the counter for a long time as well...

Well went an engine reconditioner today - it appears they crack through in between the seats - apparently very hard to find good heads - I dont know why they cant use larger seats though & machine that area & overlap the valve seats - I am sure someone will have a fix for them - found the problem with the motor - had a sump gasket replaced just before the motor problems started - had a look at the oil pickup this morning & they have managed to get silastic on the oil pickup & its restricted oil flow severely to the oil pump. Wonder full & every ones closing for Christmas - nice present indeed...
