Hi guys, got to my car today and it started up as if it had a low battery,
I go to start it this afternoon, and before i even put the key in, the car is blowing air through the AC vents,
so i started the car (just turned over) and turned the air con/fan/climate control/everything off, and it stayed on,
and in fact came on with a bit more force when i turned the ignition/accessories and everything off and pulled the keys out, it has never done this before and the radio follows remote and turns off when reds are off so why doesnt the fan do the same?
I just went out the to the car then, and the battery is dead, the car wouldnt unlock. I plugged the battery charger in, and even though it still barely has any power to unlock the doors, its still blowing a little bit of air.

The car is a 1996 VSII Statesman V6, has anyone got any idea what could be happening and how I could fix it or if any one has experience this before. Thankyou

sounds like the fan is shorted to earth between the fan and the switch
like a pinched wire changed anything in the dash lately start there!~ look for a crushed wire
unplug the fan, run car half hour and drive it a bit (leave unplugged)
then leave it overnight and see if it drains flat again it shouldnt if its shorted between the fan and the switch switch is earthed when ign not off
so shouldnt work when ign off!~

is a good place to start if unplugging it stops fan then is goin to be shorted
apart from visually following wires you need a multimeter to find the short after that

remove the blower relay, it should stop the fan, in vt-vz its under the steering wheel. possibly called inhibitor relay?

The blower relay could be stuck in the on position, try changing it

I had this same issue with my VS Berlina. Ended up being the fan speed resistor.

will be the fan speed amplifier. pretty common for them to fail in that way.

can buy a new one from holden, or if you PM The1, he has the parts to repair them for you, cheaper than you can buy them new.
