Default WARNING : Idler/tensioner pulley replacement

If you are replacing these pulleys and your fan belt is slightly worn, change your belt too. My belt wasn't that bad but it was enough to throw it out of its groove, spit off, tangle up around the crank and rip the crank angle sensor clean out of the block, on top of that bent the fins??on the harmonic balancer that the sensor reads and had to replace the balancer as well.

I wouldn't have thought a slightly worn serpentine belt would be the reason it got thrown off the pulleys. I would have gone for out of alignment pulleys or incorrectly installed belt. Not saying what you said is untrue.......just saying I am somewhat surprised. How long after you installed the new pulleys did it take for the belt to throw the towel in?

I would be inclined to agree with this too - refitted many without problems - I would be checking alignment of everything...

was a few days of driving after it threw the towel in, installed the belt according to the owners manual and i only replaced the idler and tensioner, ran it with the hood up and everything looked fine. However i didnt thoroughly inspect the belt but i have had ones that seem to appear worse in other vehicles work just fine.
