bought a 95 VS about 3 weeks ago,
everythings alright apart from when i start it up i accelerate or rev it when idling it has a chugging or spluttering noise
ive recently bought new leads and spark plugs for it and currently changing the coil pack, but if its no different after replacing the coil pack what should i look for?
is it a v6? if it is, thats your problem
yeah mate v6 ecotec.. im only a P plater, the problem it being a v6 or the coil pack?
Hey mate was it running ok before you replaced the leads? if so i'd just double check you have the spark leads right because having them mixed up screws up the firing order and will cause it to run like s**t.
Also try checking for any logged error codes.Heres a link to a post that shows you how to do this quick simple test.---Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)---

Like Brett says, do a codes check. Also some more info would be useful, like does it use any coolant, how many k's etc.
Also have a look at the old plugs when you pull them - their appearance should give you some clues to the problem(s). Good Luck.

Hi NSG,
I had the same problem, turned out to be a cracked lead
The DFI Modules go bad after time so it could be it.
By any chance could you describe more what is happening, maybe post a video?
Does it sputter when you rev it slowly, or does it do it more with a quick rev?
if its a lead normaly its either the longest 1 or shortest 1 that play up 1st happend on my old ute and it was the shortest of the leads that made it run crappy.i just changed the 1 lead and she was back to norm>>>>cheers

I would also check for a fuel system issue.
Ng18 how did you end up going? Get it all worked out?

Could be clogged/leaky injectors, what you can do is start it up and one at a time take the an injector electrical plug off, if the car runs worse then that injector is running (doesn't mean it's working great though), if it makes no difference then there's your problem and your injectors need cleaning or replacing. Also try a bottle of injector cleaner and some premium fuel, this won't fix any problem but will make it run a bit smoother.
