Hey guys
I'm attempting to install two gauges into my VS (Water Temp & Oil Pressure) but I'm having some trouble with the electrics. Just wondering if anybody can shed some light or link me some write ups on it.
Thanks
which part is hard? most gauges come with wiring diagrams...
identify power sources, wiring gauges to dash lighting. Just not too crash hot on auto electrics

Water Temp & Oil Pressure NEXT TO THE HAND BRAKE>??HOW YOU GOING TO GET THE OIL PRESURE ALL THAT WAY UP UNDER THE TBAR AND THE TEMP...I HAD A OIL PRES GAUGE KIDA JUST ABOVE MY LEFT KNEE(HARD TO EXPLAIN THE OIL LINE CAME IN FROM THE FIRE WALL) AND I CANT REMEBER WERE IT WAS POWERED FROM AS IT HAD AN INBUILT LIGHT(WAS IN THE UTE WHEN I GOT IT) GOOD LUCK CHAMP I HOPE ITS TURNS OUT AS GOOD AS IT SOUNDS...BEST OF LUCK

if you have the gauges near the handbrake just use the power from the cig plug, it has an accessory feed, earth and light feed. then you just have to run a couple wires through to the engine bay for the oil pressure and water temp senders that came with the gauges.
By what your saying that guage is now illegal, I was told by a performance mechanic shop that having guages that send oil to the actual gauge itself are now illegal. The one I have has a small canister that screws into the original oil presure sender and then transmits the reading through the signal wire to the gauge.Water Temp & Oil Pressure NEXT TO THE HAND BRAKE>??HOW YOU GOING TO GET THE OIL PRESURE ALL THAT WAY UP UNDER THE TBAR AND THE TEMP...I HAD A OIL PRES GAUGE KIDA JUST ABOVE MY LEFT KNEE(HARD TO EXPLAIN THE OIL LINE CAME IN FROM THE FIRE WALL) AND I CANT REMEBER WERE IT WAS POWERED FROM AS IT HAD AN INBUILT LIGHT(WAS IN THE UTE WHEN I GOT IT) GOOD LUCK CHAMP I HOPE ITS TURNS OUT AS GOOD AS IT SOUNDS...BEST OF LUCK
And yes I will post pictures on this and my forum once complete, I've had the idea for a while now and it can be seen in Street Commodores Issue 177 on the VN SS (FLY-383)
I think you can have ones like that but they need to be mounted outside the cabin.
wow i didnt know thay were illegal. wonder if any 1 has been pink slipped because of it.....im luck i dont have any at the momment ..

Would removing the stock sender and replacing it,,,then wiring up a gauge and not the stock one set off the oil light
Phil that's what I was planning to do to
Alrite so no progress has been made yet due to family events for christmas, but earlier I found i have 2 spare plugs sitting next to the cigeratte lighter, one has 6 wires going into it and the other has 5. Wondering if they are for the automatics and if I can use them? I don't have a test light so couldn't really try, I'm thinking I could try them seeing as they arent doing anything at the moment.
Here they are guys, cheers for all the help
Sorry for the poor quality pic though
