    Default Gauge Install

    Hey guys

I'm attempting to install two gauges into my VS (Water Temp & Oil Pressure) but I'm having some trouble with the electrics. Just wondering if anybody can shed some light or link me some write ups on it.

    Thanks

identify power sources, wiring gauges to dash lighting. Just not too crash hot on auto electrics

if you have the gauges near the handbrake just use the power from the cig plug, it has an accessory feed, earth and light feed. then you just have to run a couple wires through to the engine bay for the oil pressure and water temp senders that came with the gauges.

By what your saying that guage is now illegal, I was told by a performance mechanic shop that having guages that send oil to the actual gauge itself are now illegal. The one I have has a small canister that screws into the original oil presure sender and then transmits the reading through the signal wire to the gauge.

And yes I will post pictures on this and my forum once complete, I've had the idea for a while now and it can be seen in Street Commodores Issue 177 on the VN SS (FLY-383)

I think you can have ones like that but they need to be mounted outside the cabin.

no once the factory oil pressure switch is removed the oil light will stay permanently off, some people use a T piece adaptor to use both but when i had my oil pressure gauge i didnt bother

Alrite so no progress has been made yet due to family events for christmas, but earlier I found i have 2 spare plugs sitting next to the cigeratte lighter, one has 6 wires going into it and the other has 5. Wondering if they are for the automatics and if I can use them? I don't have a test light so couldn't really try, I'm thinking I could try them seeing as they arent doing anything at the moment.

There for the power windows mate, and they shouldn't have power to them since they are set up
