    Default please help!!!95 vr s2 motor change for vn s2 vr has cam sensor... is there a way?

    hi there, i recently blew my engine in my car 95 vr s2 i took a mechanic to lookj at some cars he picked a 91 vn s2 both motors have been taken out and puting the vn motor in iv descovered it doesnt have a cam sensor.... what can i do now? any ideas? do you know if the timing cover off the vr will work on the vn? i blew the cam bearing in the vr motor could i just swap it with the vn? please help...

    You should be able to swap the timing cover and there is a pick up in the cam gear
    I did an engine swap and had the same thing i just tied the sensor out the the way and didnt use it and had no problems.

    i have a backyard mechanic doing the swap over he said it would play up with the transmittion and ecu if we did that...

    According the the Gregory manual, the cam position sensor information along with other sensor input is used by the ECU to tell the DFI when to fire the plugs - if it's missing it will use a default value "allowing near normal operation". It should not affect the transmission or damage the ECU.

    I know it's a bit dodgy but I just used a one of those hole cutters on a drill and then swapped over the magnet on the cam gear from the old motor to the new motor as the cam gear already has the place for the magnet anyway!
    You can get the position buy bolting the cam sensor on to the new motor and spray some black paint over it then remove the sensor and you've got a marked to drill through. I think it was a 27mm I'll have a look later.

    Might get a few in there but it only alloy, just do it slowly and keep cleaning the swarf off. Did mine last year and she still going fine.

    That is a great method....much easier than swapping the covers. I like it.

    how hard are the covers to change any ways? i got both motors out just sitting here, im guessing new gaskets and a half a day right? or should i try drill and might stuff it?
