how bad will not running a cam sensor play with my ecu? i boaught a s2 vn motor and it does not have one and my s2 vr does.. if i tie the cable aside will it stuff with the ecu too much? or could i get a vr s1 ecu and eliminate the sensor from an ecu? cheers
any one? please
From what I've read, if the cam position signal is missing, the ECU just uses it's default value, which I'd guess is no real problem. I'd suck it and see rather than swapping timing chain covers.
Good Luck.

All VR autos run cam angle sensors.

maybe you didnt see where the OP said - he put a vn motor in that didnt have one, he would also like to know : if by not having one, will it screw with the vr ECU.

thats right lol anyone?
You can turn off the code in software, you'd be wise to tune it anyway as it is a different engine somewhat.
It wouldn't damage the ecu - may not run properly but
how do you turn the code off?
In software, I use Tunercat and TunerPro RT, you could also do it in Kalmaker at twice the cost. You have to delete and reburn the memcal with the modified tune. All the sensors other than the cam are the same, the ECU will be fine. You may have to shorten the coolant sensor wiring if it is an old VN motor with the rear thermostat, and the gauge too. MAP, TPS, IAT, Coolant all the same, it might be worth using the DFI and coils off the existing VR engine as I don't have the wiring diagram here to compare them and I think the cam/crank wiring goes through the DFI to the ECU.

its a series 2 vn motor which is all the same exept the cam sensor... would a mechanic with this software be able to do it?
I can't speak for all mechanics but I can

Series 2 VR has the cam position sensor....series 1 Vr does not. I don't see the point of turning the code off using software as you will only see the code of you check for codes and it's just added expense unless you have the equipment.

does anyone know if the vn series 2 came with the magnet on the sprocket?
