Turning off limp mode?

Hi,
the cars in limpo mode because of a dud 3-2 solinoid. it makes the car a bit of a pain to drive because of the lack of power. is there a way to disable limp mode? will just leaving a paperclip in pins 5 and 6 stop the ecu recognising any errors? this is just a temporary fix till i have time to remove the solinoid and replace it.
also when i pull the solinoid out how can i tell if i need a new one? eg how to test it.

duh. how much can a new solenoid cost. if you know its the solenoid try one from the wreckers. electronics are a lotto ticket anyway u could by a brand new one from holden and it could fry its guts in a week. couple bucks at the wreckers and you could be back leaving licorice strips up the road in front of the neighbours.
