hi,
I have a 95 vs, i have a problem and i am not sure what it is.
When i go to start the car sometimes i will turn the key and get a click sound. and the car will not start
It can happen a few times and then the car starts and i have no probs , but then today it took me 30 mins to get it started, All the lights come on in the dash like normal, I just went to start it and had the same problem.
any help would be good,
thanks
depending on the click sound, next time you try to start the car, try pushing the auto shifter up
thanks, but have done that
Sounds like the starter solenoid is burning out or burned out.
This is a common problem on the commodores.
Is there any way I can test to see if its the starter or not?
Inspect the connection on the starter and check for power to the starter motor the thin wire and the thick wire.
While cranking there should be power on the skinny wire.
The thick wire should have power constantly.
If theses are present change the starter.
Hey man, i sorta have the same problem, have u tried takin the key out and then puttin it back in, also, try changin the leads......
Prob the key fob , the immobiliser circut has to be touching the steel ring around the barrel or it wont start.
Right click save as . .
People the signal gets through because the starter is sounding a click but will not turn.
Hence the burned out solenoid on the starter.
And MY VS COMMODORE can i know what will changing the leads do? lol.
yep was the starter, replaced it today.
The car starts fine, tell you what tho, big job.
Not as straight forward as they once were, thanks for the advice guys, greatly appreciated
I just had this same problem but it was only the first time it happend, I just made a thread about it too![]()
I guess I should have read here before writing it.
Just 1 question, is the tick coming from the dash or under the bonnet?
Ah just read it properly, this was his starter playing up.
Mine is defiantly coming from the dash though, not the starter.
i was having the same problem but i ended up adding another wire from the battery to the starter motor and another to the frame and to the motor and has been fine ever since
