Since getting my VR mid last year, ive done a few 0-100 runs, using a stopwatch. The results were far from impressive. A couple 9.6's, and a best time of 9.32 with what seemed to be a good launch.
Engine is a Buick 3800, the same engine the VR came out of the factory with afaik.
Go fast bits on the car include
-Advance headers
-2.5" redback catback (this actually may be slowing the car down)
-Removed bellmouth
- MACE CAI
Did a single run earlier today, a poor launch netted me a time of 9.31 seconds. Disappointing considering 8.9s is the time they run off the factory line
Go fast bits added prior to todays run
-Greenfoam tune
-corvette servo
I have a feeling that the car should be going faster if it was A1 mechanically, it's done 264xxx k's. All runs were done on tarmac, in the afternoon with a full tank of fuel.
Plugs, leads, oil, oil filter, fuel filter, trans oil, trans filter were all done no less than a few months ago. The car idles rather rough and misfires a bit. It will also misfire after you give it a bit of a rev, as the revs come back down, it misfires rapidly. I suppose diff oil needs to be done as well.
Taking the misfiring into account, what could be slowing my car down?

Just a bit of fun
130kw = 174bhp
VR Exec weight
60 mile = 96.56km
Roughly the below shows you you should get to 60 miles (96.5 km) in 8.03 seconds.
Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 174
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1362
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 129.80
0 - 60 (Secs) : 8.03
0 - 100 (Secs) : 23.27
60 - 100 (Secs) : 15.24
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 16.45
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 84.08
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 16.35
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 85.04
Also I found this
VR Commodore / Calais / Ute Specs
Acceleration
VR Executive V6 auto: 0-100km/h: 9.3s (from Wheels Sept 93)
400m: 16.8s
60-90km/h: 3.4s
80-100km/h: 4.3s
VR Acclaim V6 auto: 0-100km/h: 9.2s (from Wheels Sept 93)
400m: 16.7s
60-90km/h: 3.5s
80-100km/h: 4.3s
I would assume the 2nd one is more accurate, you are getting about stock times.
0-100 times are never going to be accurate with a stop watch and looking at a speedo. 9.3 does sound about right ,but take it down the 1/4 if you can
My pioneer GPS has a speedo and distance meter. You can use this to time 0/100 or a quarter mile run i have found it is pretty accurate
if you have a gps based phone try velox >>> its 100% free ive used it for over 5yrs without a prob,,,,its a gps based speedo ( i use it when im taking my daughter on a driving lesson) save me haing to look over at her speed>>> its free from here>>> Velox Search Results for Nokia N96 just type in you phone model ,download it and off you go

i took my manual (getrag) v6 vs to the drags and the best i could get was 16.59 1/4 mile at 140 kph.
its got 2.5 exhaust k&n and mace insulators, oh and its got bald tyres as well so that probly didnt help
any idea if these times are ok??
VR/VS V6's should run about 9.5s 0-100 and 1/4 Mile mid 16's.
Apparently the VN's though are quite a bit quicker because of their weight.
