hi guys new to the forum just wanting to know how you can tell if the car was a ex cop car i am looking at a vr 95 model series 2 the guy said it was a ex police car can anyone help craig from tassie thanks
WELCOME TO J/CLook at your compliance plate, or at your rego papers, if it's an ex cop car it'll be a BT1.
ALso the speedo has exact incriments on the dash too.......little dashes between the actual speed.
OR how to tell
depends on range and if it is a sedan or wagon
a SS or a Crewman or adventra
they have diff codes not like older VH to VL BT1 code
i have all the codes over the whole rage up to VE
VT = executive sedan n wagon = 9C1, SS sedan (A/T) = A8V 824, SS sedan (supercharged V6 A/T) = A8V & 834,
SS sedan (5.0 M/T) = A8V & 825, SS sedan (5.7 M/T) = A8V & 826
and a VT Taxi sedan = A9T
VX = executive sedan n wagon = 9C1, SS sedan (A/T) = A8V 824, SS sedan (supercharged V6 A/T) = A8V & 834,
SS sedan (5.0 M/T) = A8V & 825, SS sedan (5.7 M/T) = A8V & 826
We ALL HAVE 1 THING IN COMMON:THE RELENTLESS PURSUIT OF GRIP
thanks for that will have a look, it has abs lsd speed warning on dash fe2 susp is that standard on 95 vr series 2?
Ok went to look at car today it has the dash thing you guys spoke about and on the vin it has bt1 so yes it is a ex police car so what mods would the engine have to a non police car like the computer etc
I Don't know why everyone always gets excited about ex cop cars.
It doesnt go any faster than a normal car.
There is no cop chip or computer.
They just have a switch to turn interior lights off (surveillance mode), the speedo goes in 2km/h increments (for pacing people on the highway and pulling them over for speeding) and the sump has a bash plate (to save the engine when they mount kerbs).
THAT IS ALL.
You're just buying a car thats been thrashed more than your everyday commo thanks to its previous (probably pursuit or squad car) life.
You might even have some awesome surprises like vomit stains under the rear seats or something from that time they carried the drunk guy in the back.
