Guys, I have a VS Statesman 5 Litre.
Will running it with a Senator Auto computer that has been chipped cause my engine to run rough and possibably not start after heating up?
My engine doesnt have a knock sensor however this computer throws an engine light regarding the knock sensor.
I didnt think a knock sensor would cause this much problems, Im guessing it does.
Can changing a computer cause it not to start when hot, but start when cold?
Cheers
If you're using an ECU that has the HSV knock sensor enabled, but your car doesnt have a knock sensor installed or is faulty, it could be the problem.
The knock sensor retards timing when it senses knocking. Not sure what the ECU does if it isnt getting any signal from the knock sensor at all..
I'd say its more likely to be something else though.
thanks guys, well i couldnt believe it. Its the temp sensor under the thermostat housing. Not the one that controls the temp 'guage' the one that tells the computer what temp its running at. With the tech 1 connected it was reading at negative 39c! we 'jiggled' the connection and the temp read +91! and it started running much better. Ive replaced ignition module, dizzy, TPS, computer etc and it was THIS!
Can I put the 185 chip from the senator computer into my standard computer? what changes may it do to the computer?

Couldn't you just put the standard ecu back in it, you're not really gunna notice any difference with the senator ecu there. You'll just save yourself alot of headaches mate.
