    Default which gearbox was fitted to the v8 motors?

    Hi all,

    just wanted to know which type automatic gearbox was fitted to a vs v8? was it the same as v6?

    As far as I know the internals are the same however I believe the bellhousing is different. As the bellhousing is not a removable or swappable part you can only match a v8 trans to a v8 and a v6 trans to a v6. I'm not 100% sure on that though so hopefully some one else can confirm or not

    4L65e was not fitted to the VR/VS's. So its a 4L60e.

    And yes, the bellhousings arent the same. same box, different bolt up.

    V8 uses the Chev bolt pattern and the V6 uses the buick, or vise-versa (i have the correct way posted here somewhere)
