Default Added power/sound expectations for fittting pacemaker extractors

    Hi guys,

I have just booked my car to have pacemaker extractors to my 94 VR. Its already fitted with a 2.5inch catback exhaust, what sort of differences can i expect after its all fitted?

Probably a small loss down low, and a small to placebo gain up high.

Very small power increase, maybe 2 or 3kW. Large noise increase.

An increase in noise and not much power increase.
An exhaust works well in conjuction with a large array of other mods, once you start doing some serious work.
But by itself its not gonna do much other than make you feel faster.

Depends on what type of extractors.

Interference type headers (Dual Y) are better for low-mid performance and fuel economy

Tuned Length are mainly for top end gain

As others have said, the gain in kw will be quite small until you get other mods.

Yes, do it yourself. not that hard, the VR extractors are bolt on, no cutting or welding required.

The only issue with Pacemakers is on the VN-VR the Y pipe can hit the gearbox cross member if not fitted quite right.

I can supply you with the extractors cheaper than you can buy in a shop.

Price will vary with car and engine, but a VR V6 would start from roughly $380 for the cheapest I think.

Yea I've put some pacies in my VS, but mine were a little bit fiddly to get in a) because I have the getrag 5spd in my car, b) turns out both my engine mounts collapsed and the extractors were hitting on the chassis rail and the steering.

Yea most exhaust shops charge about $100/hour, and pacemakers can take anywhere up to 3-4 hrs to fit on V6 commodores. But yea, grab a mate who's got half a mechanical mind and a few beers, you should be fine and save yaself heaps of $$..
